Home Again

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  Just wanted to give a quick update and let you all know that I’m out of the hospital and back home.

It’s been a tough couple of months, and to be honest, I’m getting really tired of this.  I want my life back.  I want my body back.  I want this to be over…and yet, as rough as this has been, I realize how much worse it could be, and how fortunate I am in so many regards.  It’s a very strange place that I’m in mentally and emotionally.  I’m just trying to focus on whats in front of me and try not to get ahead of myself.

They sent me home with a LOT of IV medication.  I’m on four different antibiotics, each with a different schedule and a slightly different method for infusion.  It’s a lot to manage, and will basically be my full-time job for the next month while we make sure that the bacteria in my lungs is dead and gone.  As for chemo, according to my doctor, I’ve seen my last round of Hyper C-VAD.  It’s an intense regimen, and after six rounds, my body has had enough.  I will have more chemo, but the drugs and dosage is still TBD.  For now, the focus is on beating the pneumonia–which we will.

Thanks as always for your love and support.  It helps more than you know.

  3. Hey Tyler,

We continue to pray for all of your needs. It’s ok to be tired of what you are going through. Your courage, faith, family, and friends will continue to hold you up as you whip this crap!

  4. There’s no place like home…even with IVs! Each day must feel like you’re climbing Mt. Everest and there are still 14,000 feet to go. With each day comes an opportunity to fight on….so fight on! We are thinking of you…praying for you…and believe in you…hugs…Carol & Mike

  5. Hey Tyler, home again…that’s great news!!! In many cases the only way to treat many of the most serious infections is for the doctors to get you OUT of the hospital. Don’t worry about your mental and emotional status….its to be expected with the treatments you are having…they just drain your bodies energy. Pseudamonas and many other bacteria are opportunistic, they only thrive when you are weak. Now that you are home and out of that sterile environment your energy will return…and the infections will be gone. Sending you healing thoughts, prayers and energy….

Lo and behold, a day late, good news. Keep being positive, know we are all out here rooting and praying for you and always thinking of you! You will beat this! Stay the course and keep strong! We love you, sending hugs and soooooooooo missing you…….Monica & Brad & Winston

  8. Yahoo – glad you’re out of the hospital — even with a full-time regimen of meds it must be good to kick back in your own abode. Hey – I’ve got great news. Kara Fritz just got engaged — share that with your folks and Leigh. We really like her fiance and it looks like a June ’13 wedding in Scottsdale. Very happy for her. Okay, get back to work fighting that pneumonia! Hugs…. Mary

  9. YIPEEEEE!! We’re SOOOO glad you’re out of the hospital and home—feels good to sleep in your own bed, I’m sure!! Hang in there, this too will pass. Know you’re in our daily prayers and thoughts!!

  10. Ty – Bob and I played golf today working on getting ready for the Swingfest next week at the club. We didn’t have as much fun as we did playing with you in Vegas last year but wanted you to know we are thinking about you. So far we haven’t won a thing in two years but Bob got some new shoes this year so our luck is bound to change. Bill Shreve was out working on his game as well he asked Bob about you as well. Big Knox won the club championship today so some things just don’t change. Doug Ganz also want me to say hell-o.

Sam did pass away six weeks ago but two weeks ago we went and looked at puppies and now have a new puppy to carry on the tradition of a dog in the house. A 14 week old female King Charles named Chloe. We are parents once again one eye on the dog and one eye on Max the cat making sure Max dosent play too hard but Max and Chloe are now fast friends.

I’m showing my age but we need rain in Lincoln. Bob once told me if i ever talked about the weather he was going to shoot me or himself.

Hope the drugs start to do their magic and you get back on track.

    Keep on truckin.

  16. Hey Ty, They say no news is good news. I’ve been so busy with work and all I haven’t even had time to connect with Tasha. Hope you are progressing in the right direction and whipping that ugly bacteria out of your system. I know you said it is a full time job taking care of that, but with being home, maybe you can enjoy watching some good movies, sports and/or just sitting by the pool or patio and getting some rays! I know you’re eating good cuz Mama’s there making sure of it. Give my regards to all. Thinking of you….love M
