Treatment Update: Day 50

An anecdote:
I started training on my bike yesterday for a charity ride I want to do in April. Tyler is my coach/trainer/voice of reason. It was a bit difficult for me to make the decision to train without Ty, my only known riding partner. He convinced me I could do it and he would help me- from home, hospital bed, couch, cancer center, wherever he may be.
Imagine my surprise when I arrive at Tyler’s place to have lunch with him after my ride, to find him doing crunches on his floor in full spandex… I thought he was going to do a little light workout around his block. You don’t need spandex for that.
Tyler rode his road bike yesterday (and today), down and back one of San Diego’s most infamous hills… probably longer and harder than I even rode. He shocked my socks off.

Point of story. Don’t underestimate Tyler.
He is in serious Warrior mode. In other words, he’s being Tyler.

And now…
Ty will be admited to the hospital for round 2A tomorrow. He has gained 10 lbs in the last week, 5 lbs in the last 3 days! Liver enzymes are near normal, so its full steam ahead. In the words of Ty’s main nurse Ursula – ‘He is looking real handsome’ 😉 and he is, cheeks full of color, sass in his voice, he is ready for action!

  1. Awesome tyler! You have strength from within and are an inspiration! We also think you are a great writer! Good luck this week! We have you covered in prayer.

  2. My dear Tash — Nope, it wouldn’t surprise me that Ty would be in his spandex doing crunches and ready to ride by your side if he could — he absolutely would. We will look so forward to that day when he’s back to riding miles upon miles and up hills and down hills — maybe even trying to keep up with his partner. Yes, we look forward to that day. So glad to hear Ty’s gaining weight, which means he has an appetite, which means he’s eating and keeping it down. That’s a good thing. You both are in our thoughts, hearts and prayers. It’s a tough road for Ty, but having you by his side, all the way, plays a major part in his recovery. Yes it does! Love you both, AMEH

  3. Great stuff Tyler…………..some real progress. So blessed that you are well enough to be in warrior mode and heading into round 2A. Good luck and keep the communication coming.

  4. I am proud of you two, keep it up and soon you will ride the whole world together. Thanks to Mom, Dad, and sister on this, they may not ride bike but their energy and support ride the million miles.

  5. Great Job! We all wish you the best, and want you to know that you are in each of our prayers. Jose M, and the rest of the family from Patty’s Fruitland, want to let you know that each day your incredible strength shocks us. We hope you get better day by day, and can’t wait to see your wonderful smile back at the shop! 😀 Your young and strong, keep it up, because we know you can do it!!! If you ever want to talk just give Jose a call! He would love to talk to you.

  6. Hey Mr. T — Just letting you know we are thinking of you. Missed your presence at the Super Bowl family gathering. Hope you were happy with the results!?!?!? Keep strong — according to Tasha, you are doing just that. We are proud and praying and here for you. Glad to hear Tasha’s riding. Go Tash! Brad’s been under the weather so we are keeping our distance. Stay strong, We love you and miss you! M&B

  7. Tyler, you are giving up a year of your life to live the rest of you life. Been there done that. We are friends of your parents and our daughter Brittany played VB with Leigh. Your attitude, and most of all extended family are keys to success in this battle. Go for the cure!
